Putting hand in Mb750 beaver trap
Ya know people just don't understand that these foothold traps are tools and when used properly are not scary or dangerous. This is an mb750 beaver trap (4 coil springs and 7.5” jaw spread) it's the biggest trap I use on my line and it's harmless. They hold the animal but they don't hurt.

hand in an animal trap

The proof is in the pudding, I have no issue putting my hand in every foothold trap I use.. efficiency is what I use traps to accomplish. I have no use for injuring an animal before I harvest it. The trap is there when I can’t be and working 24/7... checked daily.

I run 3 dz Duke #3 offset traps. I went thru 4 coil them. Base plated the trap. Replace the chain with #2 machine chain. Add 3 swivels to the chain. Waiting on the laminate kits. Worked the pan over. I may end up putting pit pans on..

Do you happen to know what P.I.T. pan kits fit the #3 Duke closed jaw like these ?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you get the steaks out with frozen ground later? Also do you use the same method in deeper snow?

Take vise grips and clamp on the top of the stake - turn it back and forth and around 360 degrees a few times - it will pull right out

Clever idea - but you're grinding the night latch too deep that is why you had pan travel.

Set is useless, hay clogs up trap, and coyote are afraid to step on the hay, too smart from where I come from anyway, I hope your coyotes are very dumb. Sorry for being blunt.

Thanks for showing people how humane this really is. Most of us that trap and Hunt kill ethically! We are not the monsters that we're portrayed to be! In fact we have more affection for animals than we do for humans! Thanks again!

Good video. But what I don't understand is why the heck don't they build in a nite latch on the pan to start with? It can't cost the much to do when making traps by the thousands.

Trehan Creek Outdoors, thank you! some trap models do come nite latched and or more beefed up from the factory. They are also a little more expensive. These are less expensive and pretty easy to modify if you have the resources on hand. It basically comes down to do you want to do it yourself or pay for it, some people set “economy” traps (no negative intended) the way they come without modification and catch animals that way. Personal preference and experience I guess, have taught me that with a little tweaking I can make them work better and last longer.
